Presidents Biden And Carter Lead Tributes To Walter Mondale

President Joe Biden and former President Jimmy Carter credited former Vice President Walter Mondale for transforming the office in their statements mourning the death of the Minnesota political leader who has been hailed by many as a champion of liberal politics and civil rights.

Mondale, who was 93, died at his home in downtown Minneapolis, a family spokesperson announced on Monday night.

Former President Jimmy Carter—under whom Mondale served as vice president—mourned the passing of his “dear friend” in a statement calling him the best vice president in American history and praised him for transforming the role “into a dynamic, policy-driving force.”
